Trying out the photos

Let's see if the photos work... This is a picture of the the little guy who I'm trying to potty train today. It's going ok, so far.

What we're reading

Me -The Whiskey Rebels - David Liss This story is set just after the revolutionary war and centres around 2 main characters - one a "modern", intelligent and forward-thinking woman, the other a disgraced former Captain. Their stories run parallel to each other and as yet I haven't discovered how they connect with one another. I will say though that I am surprised at how much I'm enjoying this book - the central characters are interesting and likeable, and the plot is clever. The time period is one I'm not really familar with, so I'm learning a lot about that too. So far a great read - which is all one really wants from a book! The Big Girl (age 6) -Purple Princess Wins the Prize - Alyssa Crowne This is the second in this series that my big girl has read (she got it from the book fair at school!). This one involves a little girl (who loves purple), with two older brothers. She notices that both her brothers have tons of trophies from sporting events and sets out on a quest to win a prize of her own. My daughter is 6 1/2 now, and this is a great level of book for her. It's not too hard a read, but more importantly the content all appears to be age appropriate. And perhaps even more importantly than that - she's enjoying it, which means she's enjoying reading, which is a great thing! The Little Boy (age 3) - Thomas the Tank Engine - Rev W. Awdry The little guy is ALL about trains, and especially Thomas and his friends so we're in rather a Thomas book rut at the moment. At least he sits still to listen to the stories (most of the time!)
